Redrock microFilters bundle is a starter set of the most commonly requested filters at an exceptional price.

Redrock microFilters are a great accessory to get the most out of your microMatteBox.

microFilter Standard Pack includes:

  • 1 4x5.65" ND 0.6 neutral density filter
  • 1 4x5.65" ND 0.6 graduated neutral density filter
  • 1 4x5.65" circular polarizing filter

microFilter Circular Polarizer filter

A polarizer is probably one of the first filters any camera user should purchase. The principal use of the polarizer is to eliminate surface reflections, glare and hot spots from any light source entering the camera. This reflected light often shows up as a whitish glare which reduces the color in the image. The polarizer is used for colour and contrast enhancement and removes reflections from substances such as water and glass. It can darken a blue sky and
increases colour saturation.

microFilter 0.6 Neutral Density (ND) filter

Neutral density glass filters (also known as ND filters) produce a grey neutral tone and are used to reduce light, enabling more control over exposure and depth of field without affecting color or contrast.

ND filters are especially useful in bright light conditions to avoid overexposure. When using wider lenses they adjust exposure correctly, allowing for reduced depth of field. This enables highlighting of the principal subject and taking the foreground or background out of focus.

The Neutral Density 0.6 filter reduces brightness by 2 stops of light.

microFilter Graduated 0.6 Neutral Density (ND) filter

A soft-edged graduated neutral density filter incorporates the same properties as a neutral density filter, but has the ND portion slowly introduce in the filter from 0% to 100% over the top ~50% of the filter's vertical size. This graduation is typically used to balance exposure outdoors where the sky needs to be stopped down but the ground remains a consistent exposure level. Combined with the rotating and positioning filter trays in the microMatteBox, the graduation can be rotated and moved to match the horizon line.

The Neutral Density 0.6 grad filter reduces brightness by 2 stops of light at its darkest tint.

Note: the microFilter Graduated ND Filter is a landscape (horizontal) graduated filter.

The microShoulderMount shoulderpad detail

The Redrock microFilter IR Cut filter (also known as a hot mirror) eliminates infrared wavelengths that can create unwanted color shifts when using neutral density filters with high end digital cameras (notably the Red ONE, Sony EX1, and Sony EX3). The microFilter IR Cut filter does not affect visible red wavelengths, and provides a sharp cut-off at Infrared wavelengths. As with all Redrock microFilters, the coating is internally sandwiched to eliminate any possibility of coating damage.
